SPEC'S MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the California Spa and Pool Industry Education
Council, SPEC, to serve as the industry's statewide umbrella public policy
trade association. Appropriate contractor licensing qualifications; fair and equitable industry regulation; consumer protection; water and energy conservation; water safety and drowning prevention; safe chemicals' handling and usages; and unlicensed contractor abatement. Every local, regional and national pool and spa trade association active in California, as well as each industry sector, shall have the right to appoint an official voting representative to serve on SPEC's Board of Governors, in order to guarantee the widest possible base for SPEC's public policy education and industry "protect" programs. |
BOARD
OF SPEC's policies are established by an elected Board of Governors which represents the leaders from every segment of the spa and swimming pool industry in California. Top executives of builder companies, subcontractor firms, equipment manufacturers from throughout the nation, service companies, retailers, distribution corporations, as well as construction consultants, designers and independent pool service technicians serve voluntarily as members of SPEC's Board. In addition, the presidents of the various local, regional and specialty trade associations serving the pool industry become members of the SPEC policy making body. This all-encompassing leadership guarantees the widest possible expertise in evaluating issues facing the industry and determining action needed to best serve the pool owning public and the industry which serves them. |
